About the Award

Leap of Transformation

Businesses face complex challenges and disruptive changes in an increasingly connected and fast-paced world. To heartland enterprises that have been serving Singaporeans’ daily needs since nation building, this may be a question of future survival. To continue to thrive in a future full of uncertainties, they must reinvent and transform themselves.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, at the National Day Rally 2017, encouraged Singaporeans to take full advantage of IT to make Singapore a Smart Nation, to make our economy more productive and our lives more convenient, as well as to create new jobs and new business opportunities. He added that traditional stores and businesses must adapt and reinvent, and use technology to offer customers more convenience with greater efficiency.

Transformation is an ongoing process that may appear ordinary, but in fact something extraordinary and bold is taking place. The result is a transformed future. Championing this, the Federation of Merchants’ Associations, Singapore (FMAS), aims to motivate heartland enterprises to take their businesses to greater heights through enhanced productivity and competitiveness.

To this end, the new additions to the Singapore Heartland Enterprises Star Award, namely Best Technology Partner, Innovative Hawker and Luminary Award, recognise heartland enterprises that have demonstrated the spirit of innovation and harnessed technology.

The Award has, and will continue to be, a catalyst and platform to showcase and inspire heartland enterprises to make the transformation to play a greater role in serving the community.
